Holy Spirit

Monday of Pentecost, being the Day of the Holy Spirit, is the feast of the Spirit’s ineffable co-inherence in the Father and the Son, proceeding from the Father to abide in the Son in a round dance of reciprocity, mutuality and communion.

The Spirit of truth reveals the truth of co-inherent communion which characterises God in Holy Trinity, which is the living heart of the Christian Tradition.  This is why the Feast of Pentecost is immediately followed by the Day of the Holy Spirit in the Orthodox calendar.

It reminds us that perichoresis, co-inherence, is conceived as a round dance of loving reciprocity which unveils the true nature of things.  Created in the image and likeness of God, we are created for co-inherence as reciprocal co-inherence, just as the divine hypostases are radically self-emptying in relation to each other, each bearing witness to the others with self-emptying love.
