Holy Apostle Philip

Today is the feast of the Holy Apostle Philip, who bore witness to the glory of the age to come, empowered by wisdom to awaken to the Kingdom of God, but today is also the day we remember the Optina elders and their witness to the glory of the Holy Name.

Hesychast wisdom continues to witness to the glory of the reign of the Name, inspiring Saint Silouan the Athonite to communicate the glory of love and Saint Sophrony the Hesychast to transmit the glory of the Name in our own times, communicating timeless glorification.

The Gospel of Philip speaks of glorification as the very heart of wisdom, whilst Optina elders, centuries later, bore witness to mysteries of glorification which communicate the Name, which for Saint Sophrony, was the mystery of ‘I AM, the very heart of Holy Orthodoxy.
